My name is Katniss Everdeen. Why am I not dead? I should be dead.Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. Gale has escaped. Katniss's family is safe. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 really does exist. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding.
It is by design that Katniss was rescued from the arena in the cruel and haunting Quarter Quell, and it is by design that she has long been part of the revolution without knowing it. District 13 has come out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. Everyone, it seems, has had a hand in the carefully laid plans -- except Katniss.
The success of the rebellion hinges on Katniss's willingness to be a pawn, to accept responsibility for countless lives, and to change the course of the future of Panem. To do this, she must put aside her feelings of anger and distrust. She must become the rebels' Mockingjay -- no matter what the personal cost.
Mockingjay is the third book of the Hunger Games series.
PERSONAL REVIEW:
I was personally very disappointed in the last book to the series. I loved the first... Was content with the second and plain disappointed in the third. It started off okay, and I couldn't have been more wrong on the ending, but I think that Suzanne Collins wildly over thought the ending. It was just too much. For a more detailed review of the last book of the hunger games series continue reading. If you have yet to read it and don't want it spoiled I suggest you stop reading now.
WARNING!!! FOLLOWING REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS!!
In the beginning of the book we confirm what we read in the last book... District 12 was burnt down. I have to say that I expected that from the beginning. I was kind of happy that Peeta was captured purely because I wanted Gale and Katniss to get mend their love affair. It was no surprise when Katniss agreed to be the Mockingjay... the face of their rebellion because honestly... She was perfect for it. One thing I was really proud of was when she was visiting district 8 for footage and she ended up firing at bombing hovercrafts. The speech she made after word... Or to be more specific the one particular line: "if we burn, you burn with us!" was beautiful. I was also upset with the number of important/main characters were killed off like Boggs and especially Finnick. The very end pissed me off the most. I expected president Coin to betray Katniss... I even had a feeling that she would end up killing her instead of snow... But the fact that Gale just deserts her in the end to go work at some fancy job in district 2!!! and her and Peeta fall in love and have babies... Yeah... So not the love interest I was rooting for... I was all for team Gale! Those were the main things though: so many supporting characters dying and Katniss choosing Peeta that made me so upset.
Overall I love Suzanne's writing style to the point of admiration.. No author can please everyone... But I am sure that she will get many thumbs up for this much anticipated book. I still do suggest you read the series... You never know, you may live it!
